Exciting changes are taking place at Coggeshall Farm Museum!
The roof on our historic farmhouse was recently replaced to ensure its future as an engaging space where visitors can step back in time and experience how farmers lived in the late 1700s. The roof replacement was completed using historically-appropriate techniques by Charles E. Millard Contractors of Bristol. Thanks to the project’s generous funders at the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission, The Champlin Foundation, The 1772 Foundation, and the Felicia Fund!
Wondering where the sheep have gone? CFM is preparing for an exciting project building a new animal barn, which will be a big improvement for both the animals and our visitors.
Meanwhile, our sheep have gone to live with a family in VT where they will be a therapy flock for the family’s autistic son. Once the barn project is complete, a friendly new group of animals will join us to help engage another generation of visitors and continue the hands-on learning for which Coggeshall is so well known.
History comes alive at Coggeshall Farm Museum, and you’re at the center of it. Experience first-hand how families lived on a tenant farm in the 1790s, just after the American Revolution and before the sweeping changes brought in by the Industrial Revolution. Step back in time, share our hearth and help us sustain a way of life that gave birth to the American Dream.
